Writing Fun for Thanksgiving -- Freebie

Today, I am thankful for my co-workers in the Reading lab. We make a good team and have lots of fun together. Who you work with makes all the difference!

Use today's freebie in a writing station. Cut out the pics, place in a bag or box, and let the students draw two to use as the basis for a narrative. Having to base the story on the two pics makes them plan before they begin writing. The activity includes a graphic organizer to use in the planning phase.

Spooky Writing

I've joined up with my friends at A Classy Collaboration as part of the Trick or Freebie Blog Hop.
Harness the Halloween spirit in your room by giving your kiddos something to write about. Cut out the spooky cards and put in a brown paper bag. Glue the directions on the bag and you are ready to go!
Your little spooks draw two cards from the bag and use them to write a narrative.

I've included a graphic organizer to help them plan their stories and a rubric to help your assessment.

Happy Fall, y'all!

What Will I See on Halloween Night? - Freebie

Happy Halloween!
It's a night of ghosts, goblins, witches, and monsters!
Get your kiddos ready by giving them a pair of monster feet. They add the rest of the monster's body, then write a narrative about meeting this monster on Halloween night.

Have fun today with your own little spooks! My second grade team is ready! I'll post pics tomorrow.
