Jammin' with Multiplication and Division PLUS Sale and $25.00 TPT Gift Card Giveaway!

Here's a fun way to develop fluency in multiplication. Put this game in a math station. Your kids won't even know they are building fluency as they try to beat the clock and collect as many cards as they can. Instead of the typical drill on basic multiplication facts, students have to find the unknowns in equations, such as 4 x ? = 36.

Click on the pic below to get the freebie!

Click HERE to visit my TpT store and purchase the entire pack.

Don't forget the fabulous Back to School Sale going on at Teachers Pay Teachers! If you want the whole pack of ten games, plus one multiplication wheel worksheet activity, click HERE to visit my TPT store.

Even More Common Core Poetry Activities - Freebie - and a Doggone Good Giveaway!

I've got another freebie on poetry today and the chance for you to win a fantabulous book!

First....the freebie....
Click on the pic above to get activities tied to Christina Rossetti's poem, "Who Has Seen the Wind?" It includes other poems students can use for comparing and contrasting. These are the poems I'll be using our second week back after Christmas Break.
(Remember to set your printer options to "FIT" so that all the material will print on each page.)

Now for the giveaway....
I was excited when I received an email asking if I would be interested in giving away copies of The Miracle Dogs of Portugal, by Tracy Aiello.
Really...need you ask? Reading is my passion. Sharing reading and books with my kids and friends is just part of that love.
Tracy Aiello's book is the "almost true" story of Henry the Navigator. I love the lyrical words in the story. Aiello actually captures the sound of the ocean in words. Click on the pic below for more info on the book and author.
I have five, yes FIVE, copies of the book to give away. All you have to do is enter below.
And the BEST part of this giveaway.....Miracle Dogs will be donating five additional books to give children affected by Hurricane Sandy. How cool is that?!
Enter now. The contest ends Friday, January 4 at midnight.

Giveaway Time!

Educational Insights is one of my go-to sources when I have school funds to spend.  Educational Insights has generously donated a set of their Hot Dots to a lucky winner if I would review the set in a post. I've loved their collections of Hot Dots and have used them for years, so it was easy to say, "Yes, please!"

I chose this Hot Dots Laugh It Up set to reinforce using context clues....(and my kiddos need lots of practice on using context clues!)
Synonyms, antonyms, homophones, and multiple-meaning words are all titles in the Hot Dots Laugh It Up series.

All you have to do for a chance to win your own set of Hot Dots is fill out the Rafflecopter form below to register.

Amazing Giveaway!

Are you ready for an amazing giveaway? And by amazing giveaway, I mean a year's subscription to the website Amazing Classroom?
Since I am about to 800 followers and Amazing Classroom provided me with a membership to their site to review all their resources, I thought this would be a great time to pass along their offer of a free membership to you!

At first, I was attracted to the site because of their math fluency tests. Common Core requires my second graders to be fluent with addition and subtraction facts within twenty, so that feature caught my eye.
But then I started clicking around on their site and found sooooooo much more!
It's relatively easy to find resources on blogs and on the internet for Smart Boards, but my system purchased Promethean Boards and I haven't found that many for our boards. I have a set of ActivExpressions that my students love to accompany the board. I was BEYOND happy to get access to all the great ActivInspire flipcharts for Promethean boards that are available on their site. (If you are a Smart Board user, they have resources for you, too!)
PLUS......there are station activities, worksheets, assessments, and more for you to print out....even newsletter generators.

If you want to win your own year's subscription, enter my giveaway below.

HearALL Giveaway!

THIS CONTEST HAS CLOSED!
Learning Resources sent me a HearALL Assessment Recorder to try out in my room. I can sum this handy little device up in three words.

I.  LOVE.  IT.
(Click on the pic above to go to the Learning Resources webpage.)

I turned it on while my kids were reviewing in small groups for our big TCAP test. They were playing games and one group was getting a little off track. I put the recorder beside the table, hit the button, and let it run for a few minutes after I walked away. I came back in a few minutes, turned it off, and played back the group's conversation.

Let's just say it wasn't on topic.

Silence. Furtive looks around the table.

We talked about the goals of the game they were playing and appropriate comments. Then I started the HearALL back up and walked away.

When we replayed the recording a little later, everyone was on topic! Imagine that.

We have also used it to record our fresh reads for fluency practice. The kids are getting a little bored with fresh reads by this time of year, so using the HearALL and playing the recordings back made it all new again.

The possibilities for this are endless....playing samples for parents at conferences, recording the directions to learning stations, listening center activities...
It's so easy to use that the kids can handle it themselves.

The best part of all this? Learning Resources offered one of these for me to use as a giveaway for my followers! And since I just reached 500 followers, the timing is perfect! We can all celebrate!

So if you want a chance to win this amazing little device, you have several ways to do so. If you are a follower of my blog already, leave me a comment below by midnight, Monday, April 30. If you aren't a follower yet, please consider joining my readers now. You'll want to keep in touch, because Learning Resources has given me a Luna document camera to give away, too!
