Multiple Meaning Snacks - Freebie

Two of our second grade ELA skills for this week are multiple meaning words and context clues.
Students play this game with a partner. After determining the correct meaning of a word in a sentence, students collect snack cards to win the game.
Click on the pic above to get the game.
Happy snacking!
(Please leave a comment and let me know what you do for multiple meaning words and context clues.)

Multiple Meaning Cookout -- Freebie

Students must work with multiple meaning words in order to meet both the second and third grade Common Core Standards.

Use this as either a whole group activity or in a literacy learning station. For whole group work, place the word cards on different desks or other places around the room. Hand definition cards out to students and get them to find their matching definitions, then run to the correct word card.

Just click on the pic above to download the activity.

Amelia Bedelia and Multiple Meaning Words -- Freebie

Who doesn't love Amelia Bedelia? Work with determining the meaning of multiple-meaning words with the fun, fun, fun book, Amelia Bedelia's First Day of School, by Herman Parrish. This activity for a learning station or or as a whole group activity is correlated to the Common Core Standards.
(How many multiple-meaning words can you use in a comment?)

Multiple Meaning Words -- Freebie

We are reviewing multiple-meaning words this week, so I'm starting off with this activity with my whole group. Hand all the cards out and ask students to match up in threes according to the word and two definitions. Give each set of students paper and ask them to write two sentences, one with each definition. They should also illustrate the sentences. The activity can also be used in a learning station. Click on the pic to download....and please leave a comment.
