Measuring Freebie and a Sale!

Here's a peek inside our Math class from Friday.

We are estimating and making actual measurements using centimeters and inches. I decided to treat the kiddos since they have worked so hard all week. We measured Smarties and Gummy Worms, but you could use any type of candy at all. (That's just what happened to be handy when I stopped at Walgreens before school!)
First, they estimated the length of each piece of candy in centimeters and inches. Next, they recorded the actual measurements. After they made a record sheet to hold all the info, they got to eat their candy.

Click on the pic above to download a record sheet to record the data.
Have a wonderful weekend!

(If you are doing some planning for Valentine-themed activities, go check out my Teacher Pay Teachers store and Teachers Notebook Shop.
I'm running sales in both for Valentine- AND Snow-themed items. Click on the links in the right sidebar to shop!)

Construction Capers -- Measurement Freebie!

It's been a busy week, even though it was a short one. I'm ready for the weekend! I'm planning on spending some time at school re-doing my Literacy Stations similar to my Math Stations. I'll post info about it next week.

Since I'm doing a little bit of "converting" in my classroom,  here's an activity to practice converting meters and centimeters to centimeters,  yards and inches to inches, and feet and inches to inches. Click on the pic below to download the Google doc. "Construct" a comment if you download!

Measure This! - Freebie

Gingersnaps added some cute, cute, cute measurement graphics to her Etsy Shop, so of course I HAD to get them! I think I own everything she has put up so far! If you haven't checked out her work, go HERE to see it.

And here's your freebie for measurement. Kids draw a task card and add each measurement to their total. The one with the highest total after ten turns wins. They have to convert to feet and inches or centimeters and meters. Run the task cards for the standard units and metric units in different colors. Use whichever units you are practicing. Click on the pic to download. (You can "measure" my happiness at reading your comments!)
